🎨 Fall Art Retreat at Vanderkamp

I am so excited to welcome you to this year's Fall Art Retreat. For over 16 years, I have hosted retreats at various locations, but Vanderkamp remains my absolute favorite venue. I cannot wait for you to experience why I love it so much.

This weekend is designed to be a relaxing pivot from your daily routine, step out of the studio and into a beautiful place where the only thing that matters is creativity and connection. We will be spending our time creating, chatting and exploring….. Whether we are sharing community fires, swapping art tips, or simply soaking in the silence of the woods, this is our time to reset and reconnect with our LAC art friends.

Kempwick Hall: Your Weekend Home Base

Kempwick Hall is a stunning, window-filled lodge that will serve as our central sanctuary for the entire weekend. Unlike other workshops where you have to pack up every night, Kempwick is ours 24/7.

• Your Dedicated Space: You can set up your art supplies on Friday morning and leave them exactly where they are until Sunday evening. You are welcome to bring your own small table and favorite comfortable chair to make the space your own, or utilize the large tables provided by the center. Bring any art supplies you’d like!!

• The Atmosphere: Imagine painting by a roaring fire, sketching in a nook bathed in natural light, or wandering into the BYOB Café area for a snack and a chat with a friend. It is a "nonstop" creative environment where you can work at your own rhythm.

Wellness, Water & Nature

This retreat gives you full access to some of the most beautiful high-end amenities in the region:

• White Pine Spa: Unwind in the Sauna, Salt Room, and Gym, or find your center in the dedicated Meditation Space.

• Grace House: We have access to the hot tub at Grace House, perfect for a long soak after a day of exploring or creating.

• The Waterfront: Head down to the private beach for a paddle. Kayaks and canoes are available for us to use throughout the weekend.

• The Land: Wander the well-maintained trails through the autumn woods. These trails are much more accessible than many other venues, making it easy to find a quiet spot in nature for inspiration. You’ll run across some hammocks and a swing near the spa….enjoy a little rest!!

Connection & Community

The heart of this retreat is the connection we share as art friends.

• The Café: Our BYOB café area will be set up all weekend for our snacks and drinks.

• Fire & Stories: We will gather at the legendary fire pits—the best I have ever experienced—to share stories, creative tips, and laughter under the autumn stars.

🧳 What to Pack

• For the Studio: Any of your art supplies you want for the weekend, and (optionally) your own small table and comfy chair. There are plenty of tables available in Kenpwick, but not too many outside.

• For the Spa/Sauna: Your swimsuit. The spa provides all towels, robes, and slippers for your comfort.

• For the Outdoors: Sturdy walking shoes, a camp chair, sunscreen, and your preferred skin-safe mosquito/tick spray, and rain gear if the weather calls for rain.

• For the Café: Your favorite beverages and snacks to share or enjoy.
