Liverpool Village Mural

The mural at The Liverpool Village Mall began July 10th 2023.

It began with a vision and a passion to inspire others…

The mural design at the parking lot side of The Village Mall was inspired by an original acrylic painting by Sandra Sabene. The landlord hired Sandra Sabene to complete the mural in summer 2023 and include a portrait of his beloved white german Shepard, Apollo (Painted here by J. Hagadorn).

Sandra, a landscape artist for over 30 years owns Liverpool Art Center and teaches all mediums at the center located within this building (The Village Mall). Her design of the mural was a starting point and the scene evolved day by day with an intuitive process of allowing the paint, brick texture and the environment to allow the images to emerge. The painting changed course many times throughout the first month of blocking in color, shapes and nature (trees, grass, stones, water etc.).

The mural was designed by Sandra using a digital replica and approved by the landlord in 2022. Later Sandra decided to add an eagle in flight to symbolize the return of the eagles to Onondaga Lake over the past decade. The white dog sitting high up on the rocks awaits his master and friend (RIP Apollo). This was taken from photos of the landlord’s beautiful white german shepard who passed away shortly after the approval of the original design. The las addition was the symbol of all dogs who are loved by their owners….. as the dog on the dock stands ready to cross the rainbow bridge . A place to take pause and remember.

A place to take a picture and share.

About the Mural Artist

Sandra Fioramonti-Sabene

Sandra Fioramonti-Sabene - Program Director/ CEO of Liverpool Art Center/Artistic Innovations since 2002. Professional competing artist since 2001 and teacher of the arts since 2003. Sandra is the creator and founder of Creative Rhythms Events™️ an Expressive Arts and Rhythm Facilitator Training.

As an artist:

Sandra Sabene’s most known art leans towards abstracts and landscapes using all painting mediums, yet she has painted in every medium, subject and style for 30+ years. “I’ve been an artist most of life, but I finally started following my own unique path in 2003 as I became a teacher in my own studio. Through the prompting of a local community member, I began teaching watercolors and quickly expanded into all mediums. This is my preferences since I love all mediums equally. I studied in the kitchens of local artists and alongside my mother who is also a gifted artist. I studied at Onondaga Community College and Empire State, but the real learning came with running the (now) 4 businesses I created and currently operate. Each business is based in the creative arts and each one has a single priority: Build community and foster deeper connections through creative experiences. I love what I do and I believe these programs have a positive impact on our community(more than you know).”
