Theme: Mixed up Colors

Story Prompt: Posted after classes begins

What this session will offer:

  1. Colors and shapes are the focus for March! We will create characters based on the colors we choose.

  2. Learning how to mix colors and not get “mud” when we create art is a big step, but we make it fun and easy.

  3. Flowers and Sunsets inspire our canvases as we learn a new painting techniques: wet-on-wet with acrylic paint.

  4. What new skill will we learn?…transferring our drawing.

  5. The Last Class in March on 3/22 will include a short presentation at 6:25pm about what we learned this month so parents can help students continue learning at home.

  6. We skip 3/29….See you in April!!

Here’s a quick demo of how Sandi transfers a drawing to the canvas. Canvases are hard to erase and this save lots of time…and erasers!

April 2022

Theme: Heros and critters

Story Prompt: Posted after classes begin

Who’s your hero? Maybe a community of critters is more your speed?…let’s collaborate first this month!

What this session will offer:

  1. The collaborative project kicks off these 3 classes with drawings of our favorite heros. The class will share, draw and inspire eachother on a HUGE poster we collectively create.

  2. Based on the hero map, each student will design their own hero or critter (or both!) and work in the story starter to create an inspiring poster.

  3. What is a hero? What make them a hero? How do we create our stories with heros and the community of critters……this will all be revealed in the April video for this session. (Only available to registered April students.)

  4. New skill: collaborative art and creative listening skills.

May 2022

Story Prompt: Posted after classes begin

What this session will offer:

  1. Three watercolor and oil pastel lessons for creating cool nature art techniques.

  2. Bringing nature indoors: Our story prompted inspires students to use real objects to create their own story using shapes and imagined images.

  3. Color and shape are the #1 focus for progressing with our skill building.

  4. Observation of nature between the 3 sessions offers activities for leveling up student’s art skills and mindfulness practices.
